Printable tangram PDFs
Build a tangram worksheet and download it as a PDF: a cut-out sheet of the pieces, puzzle silhouettes to solve on paper, and an answer key. Everything is generated in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no sign-up.
How to print a tangram set that actually fits together
- Print at 100% scale. In the print dialog, set scaling to 100% (or "Actual size") rather than "Fit to page". Shrinking the page shrinks the pieces, and a set printed at two different scales will never assemble.
- Use the heaviest paper your printer takes. 160–250 gsm card keeps the tans flat and stops thin points from curling. Ordinary paper glued to cereal-box card works just as well.
- Cut along every line. The pieces tile their square exactly, so each line is shared by two pieces, and cutting once separates both.
- Keep the square as a check. If the pieces go back into the shape they came from, the set was cut accurately enough for every other puzzle.
What's in each sheet
- Cut-out piece set
- A set's pieces, laid out as the square they are cut from.
- Puzzle silhouettes
- One to four shapes per page, solid or outlined, with no inside lines. Every one is solvable.
- One scale for the set
- The pieces and the shapes print at the same size, so the pieces you cut out fit straight onto the shapes. Fewer shapes per page means bigger pieces.
- Solutions
- The same shapes with the pieces drawn in, six to a page.
Prefer to solve on screen? The same shapes are playable in the online tangram game, and the background page covers the history of the puzzle.
